Who
we understand Christ Jesus to be impacts our conduct. To love
right, we need to know Jesus right. And it is here that John sheds
light on one of the many roles of the 3rd person of the Trinity,
the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit enables us to understand the truth
of the incredible condescension and humility of the Son of God in
becoming Jesus Christ of Nazareth. When we appreciate the enormous
sacrifice of God in Jesus Christ, we begin to appreciate the
enormous sacrifice called upon God's people to love and commit
ourselves to bring about life in others.
